The USS Midway Museum - 09 Jun 12

On the 9th of June we went and visited the USS Midway!
I've never been on it because when I was in SD I was on the
USS Peleliu so I had no desire to spend my free to time on another ship.
This time thought it was a great way to show my kids what I had experienced.
The Midway was an aircraft carrier and the Peleliu is the next size down.
THE USS MIDWAY

A quote by John Paul Jones
The Midway being an aircraft carrier had so many planes on board.
Owen was in Heaven. Her are some pics of the many many planes.

They had models of planes you could go sit in and the kids really LOVED it!

so many buttons and dials!

FIRE!! LOL

There was this one area where it showed what it looked like
to see the different levels of the ship when looking from above.

a small replica of the ship and details of each level

they gave each of us radio to do our own radio tours

life boat pods
what was neat was that I never saw what was inside when I was on the Peleliu.
inside a life pod
a raft and ores
and food and emergency supplies

A lot more planes on the flight deck

A plane from my Squadron "VS 41" when I was on north Island after I left the Peleliu

Victoria and Sarah took a lot of the pictures as I was busy with Owen
After the flight deck we took a tour below to see berthing and medical
the exploring the racks

We spent a total of 3hrs there. Everyone had a great time!

As we were going back to the car we saw a neat Sailing Ship passing by!
Very cool!
