My marathon dreams were crushed on the Alden's graduation night. After all the ceremony was done and people flooded the football field, I scanned the field and spotted my cousin who also graduated on the field. I wanted to hurry, to get to them before the disappeared into the mass crowd, so I rushed down the bleaches in my platform wedges and thought well I made it down and "that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be in these shoes." So I make my way to the field and I look back to the bleachers where Evan decide to stay, I 've lost sight of my cousin and family Evan point to the direction where he could see them. And then the crowd parts and they are all but 20 feet from me. I get all excited and think I can run to them (why I thought i could run in platform wedges shoes, is beyond me) I was sooooo wrong. And STUPID!!!
I obviously fell after taking the first two steps to run and twisted my ankle ( I thought I just twisted it the Dr would later tell me I tore a ligament)
So as I laid sprawled out on the ground, I could hear young girls laughing and so far no one coming to help. I knew my husband had seen my fall and would be there any minute so i tried to get up and that was a huge NOO! I couldn't stand! A nice old Mexican lady came to me speaking in Spanish asking if I was ok, I said no as i try holding back tears and then thankfully Orion my husbands brother made it to me first then Evan and got me up off the floor. The whole time my cousin and family oblivious to me 20 feet away. So sadd!!
So I did send Evan to tell my family I fell trying to come see them and congratulated my cousin. My uncle came over spoke a bit to me and then left back to his son. They got a golf cart to come chart me off the field, and take me to the nearest car Joel's truck. When we got back to Charlie's house, she gave me a Ice pack and some Tylenol w/codeine she had left over. I went home and in the morning this is what my ankle looked like.......
When I finally went to the Dr he informed me I had tore a ligament, and I would be down for at least 2 weeks and would be able to speed walk in 3 MONTHS!!! Ugghh, what about tyring to run my Marathon? He just shook his head and said not this year! :( So there you have it, a Marathon dream postponed for 3months then I can try to speed walk in Sep , hopefully by Oct Jog, and Run by Nov, 6 months later, (April) run a Marathon!
